Aspen is a Colorado ski resort and a year-round destination for outdoor recreation. The area is also home to boutiques and high-end restaurants, as well as landmarks such the Wheeler Opera House which was built during the region's silver mining boom in 1889. The Wheeler-Stallard House, a local history museum, is located in a Queen Anne-style 19th-century home. The Aspen Art Museum showcases contemporary art.
