Padre Island is a barrier Island off the coast of Texas. Padre Island National Seashore is located here. This protected area has beaches that are home to rare Kemp's ridley marine turtles. The marshy, bird-rich terrain of the Grasslands Nature Trail runs through the area. Padre Balli Park is a surf spot to the north. The Bob Hall Pier extends into the Gulf of Mexico, and is a hub for recreational fishing.
