Oak Island is a North Carolina beach community. The Intracoastal Waterway separates it from the mainland. The Atlantic coast is lined by beaches and fishermen congregate at the Ocean Crest Pier. Oak Island Nature Center offers trails and displays on fossils as well as native animals. Oak Island Lighthouse, to the east, offers breathtaking views of Caswell Beach or Bald Head Island.
