Taos, located in northern New Mexico's high Desert, is bordered by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Taos Pueblo is a complex of multi-story adobe structures that was inhabited for centuries by Native Americans. Taos is a long-standing artist colony. It also has many galleries and museums that showcase regional art, such as the Harwood Museum for Art and Taos Art Museum.
