Sand Key, a quiet area on a barrier islands, is well-known for its nameake park. It has a playground and picnic facilities as well as a beach. You can rent a kayak or a bike and you will find seashells on the sand. A salt marsh attracts herons and anhinga to the beach, which is also a nesting area for endangered sea turtles. Gulf Boulevard is lined with casual restaurants and seafood restaurants, many of which have bay views.
